My son gave me an unexpected Christmas present! He bought Ancestry.com in November with a Black Friday sale. We were amazed at all the family documents he received! One of those documents was my grandfather, Paul Green’s, World War II military registration card.
The registration card lists his basic information - name, address, age, and birthdate. For telephone number, he listed none, which is hard to imagine today. He listed his mother as his employer as he worked on their family farm. His order number was 11,852 in red. Also written in red along the edge of the card is his honorable discharge on May 7, 1946. It is a treasure to have this record of his service!

"The Army trucks full of men finally began to appear, and cheers broke out as family members found their loved ones for final embraces."
Songbird, Chapter 34
